Though, as this was an auction car then you got handed the wrong key. Auction house fault. They are probably knowing where the other car is because that guy would be BITCHING TOO & realized that the key is the wrong key. They would be bitchin at the auction house about that & if YOU phoned them they could put one & one together and gotten that mix-up straightened out. AKA a ten cent phone call. Cheaper & faster.

I don’t think that’s the airbag light. It looks like the low tire pressure light is on. Another issue I’ve had with a mini. Reset is in front of the center console. It might reset if the pressures are good, but they have to be within three psi of each other.

What happens if the steerling lock emulator fails? Does your car turn into a train on the motorway whilst you are doing 70? Much prefer a fix that doesn’t ignore the steering lock fault.

A European spec Cooper S has twin tailpipes though the middle of back of the car and youre also missing a n S badge for the front grill they only cost around $20 on ebay but it straight away makes the car liik more aggressive and have you thought about original cooper S Spotlights for the front

I bought a ford focus just before Christmas from an auction site, in UK, images of the car running at tick over but ever since it was delivered I've had a problem where the fuel pump and starter motor aren't working and so the engine doesn't start, Maybe immobilizer problem? Yeah, have a Renault that uses a card style key. IF you drop it way too many times it will fail to register to the immobilizer module. If you crack these cards open (as well as many other immobilizer equipped fobs or cards) there are small coil modules inside that communicate with the IM moduel. A simple resolder of the coil to the board will repair the "key". They use what is known as a proximity card by the alarm industry. Without the coil in the card or fob, the key will not power up and therefor not read the card code.

The john cooper works model is tuned from the factory for more power than a normal S model

1000 usd and 200 usd every month for oil eaten by the engine ... the engine is a a first generation famous for its infamous defects...

Realistically there is no way this could be fixed for $50. If I walked off the street and had never met those ECU repair guys.

Not sure about where you are but in the UK that would be classed as disabling the security system, in the event of an accident and someone checking the insurance would be invalid.

I had a 2008 clubman non-S. Got car sick on the test drive and had to have it. Since then I have had a 2011 countryman S and now have a 2013 convertible S. I love the handling of the mini. Nothing else like it on the road.

The guy who bought my Rover at auction was given about 8 keys for it. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get any of them to open the gas filler so buggered up the body to get to the gas cap. Having too many options, he never pushed any of them in far enough.

It's all very well throwing out the specific hardware costs, but you need to add all the labour times and 'overhead' costs, such as tools, manuals, etc, etc to be realistic ...

My dad buys form auctions and he recently bought a challenger v8 2011 and only had a bad oil pump and flipped it its a good gamble but you gotta put in all the things that could happen with them like a whole engine swap or just a pump

The vanos code isn't that big of a deal. It's what controls the cam timing on the end of the head. Get the vanos valves that have screens to block any garbage that may get into them through the oil. They are super simple to change.

Call the auction and have them search for that key......someone else out there is having your same problem and you could help them save a lot 0f money by speaking up to the auction place.

Yeah mini parts can get expensive quick. My R52 needed a new passenger CV axle and the dealer wants $800! ECSTuning had aftermarket options that were like $120 on the expensive end!
